Welcome and thank you for connecting. My name is Sam Desmond and I have been an avid film lover my whole life. Starting late working in the film and entertainment industry, I was a tradesman and business owner for over 15 years before deciding to change careers. My first experience was on a TV Series called Action Star TV where I met and was trained by renowned fight specialist and Actor, Richard Norton. I then travelled from my hometown of Perth to the Stunt Academy in Queensland on the Gold Coast to train and become a Professionally Graded Australian Stuntman, I completed two courses and was asked to join the team and train the public by Colin Handley, owner and Father of Canadian Stuntman Ryan Handley. While working there I fought the local radio station in a short film and was lucky enough to set a celebrity sports star on fire. At this time I was also training with Master Stuntman and Stunt Coordinator Darko Tuskan, who was Keanu Reeves Stunt Double on the Matrix. He invited me to perform in a Live Stunt Show at the Supanova Comic Con where I performed nine times a day for four days. During my brief time in Queensland, I also worked in the Art Department and as on-screen talent for a feature film called Danger Close and soon after was invited back by the Art Department to work on a feature film for Paramount Pictures called "Love & Monsters" with Dylan O'Brien as leadman. When the pandemic hit in 2020 I moved states again to live with family in Victoria. A feature film for Stan called "Nitram" was filming locally so I applied and quickly filled many roles working closely with the production coordinator but was mainly leadman on Construction where I met Caleb Landry Jones and one of my favourite Directors Justin Kurzel. My stunt career really took off when I worked on a TVC for the AFL as a hero role which was watched by millions of Australians all footy season. I was then blown up on a tv series staring Guy Pearce, worked as a Stunt performer for two seasons on an NBC TV Series (La Brea), been a Stunt Driver for an ABC kids TV series and had a Hero Acting role on a McDonald's commercial now Airing at Cinemas. More recently I was a stunt double on the horror feature film "Late Night with the Devil" starring David Dastmalchian and recently wrapped on feature film "He Ain't Heavy" filmed in my hometown as Stunt and Safety assistant but most notably I recently filmed a TVC for the State Government of Western Australia where I am starring as the hero Actor playing twins. I have a strong background in Boxing and Muay Thai kicking starting at the age of 14 year but Baseball was my favourite sport playing it for over 13yrs at a high level. Growing up on a farm with horses, sheep and cows made me very resilient, solving problems as they arise and often not only riding dirtbikes and cars from the age of 9 but also fixing them. I have been a member of the Society of Australian Fight Directors (Safdi) since 2018 and have been trained in many different weaponry but my favourite would be the Katana. My favourite quote is from the Legend Evel Knievel "A man may fall down many times but he is only a failure if he refuses to get back up" he inspired me to become a Stuntman and I use his wise words to encourage my three young children all the time.
